This Valentine’s Day will be the first we won’t spend together. I had that realization recently when I flew back east to visit my parents for the holidays. Going through the boxes Cliff and I had packed away was like going through a time capsule. There were photographs of us from years ago, young and blindly optimistic. There was a stack of cards and Valentines we’d written one another, each one proclaiming our undying love. Even when times were tough, as long as we had one another we could conquer anything. Even if we didn’t have a home, we had a home together. As it turns out, life marches on regardless, and sometimes the most vibrant love can cease to grow. This one goes out to all the heartbroken singles out there this Valentine’s Day, in recognition of a past great love and the resilience that two people share as they move forward through life alone.

X Valentine Lyrics:
Had to throw your Valentines away
Nothing left of us for me to save
All the things I’ve done I can’t outrun
I got swallowed up inside the wave
My love
Cast a shadow
I know a long time ago
I know a long time ago
I know a long time ago
I was loving you
Guess there’s nothing left to figure out
I’ve been staying high to kill the doubt
I won’t be the one to live without
It hurts too much too deep to take it out
My love
Cast a shadow
I know a long time ago
I know a long time ago
I know a long time ago
I was loving you

Heard "You Never Knew" on Mariah Duran's skate part on Thrasher yesterday. Coincidentally, 2 days ago, I was talking to my brother and he said something along the lines of "I'm sure a song exists out there that would be my favorite ever, but I will never find it because there is too much music." and here I am, listening to this album on repeat since yesterday. Can't wait for the record to arrive. Would love longer versions of pretty much the whole album, I can't get enough. Superb work. Hadi Burpee
